Wedding stationery checklist for May

It’s May! The hawthorn is in blossom and we’re starting to feel a little bit more warmth in the sun. Wedding season is starting to pick up and I’m busy in the studio with lots of stationery orders. To keep you on track with your planning, here is your wedding stationery checklist for may, with everything you should be ticking this month.

1. Order your save the date cards

for 2025 and early 2026 weddings

The best time to send save the date cards is 12 to 18 months ahead of the big day.

If your wedding is any time in 2025, now is a great time to send them.

If you are super organised and have already booked your date & venue for 2026, then go ahead and send your save the dates too. You can send them any time up to 2 years before.

2. Order your wedding and evening reception invitations

for weddings from September to December 2024

The best time to send your wedding invitations is four to eight months before the wedding, so you should order them around six to ten months in advance. May is when you need to get your invitations sorted for autumn and winter weddings. And it’s not too early to be thinking about early 2025 weddings either. You can book your production slots now to have your invitations made later this year. Click any of the images below for inspiration!

3. Order your on the day stationery

for weddings from May to July 2024

As we head into the busy summer wedding season, the earlier you can get things sorted the better. You should aim to finalised your on the day stationery (your order of service, welcome signs, table plan, place cards, menus and more) around 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding. This will help avoid any last minute panics. Click the links below for inspiration. And be sure to look over my checklists to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything.

4. Don’t forget the all important thank you cards

the last piece of wedding stationery you need

Arguable the most important part of your wedding stationery suite. A personal, handwritten note to your nearest and dearest thanking them for their gifts, company, and good wishes on your big day is an absolute must. I can make them in a design to match your stationery, adding one of your wedding photos is you like. Lead time is usually 2 weeks from approval of proofs, so get them ordered as soon as you can after the wedding.
