What is a wedding order of the day sign?
A wedding order of the day sign is a very simple running order for your wedding day, with approximate timings.
It is not essential but can help your guests to know what to expect during the day, particularly if you are following a non-traditional timetable.
You can present your order of the day as a simple list of the day’s events with timings or as a more contemporary graphic timeline.

Shapes & sizes
Display board – 42cm x 60cm (A2) or 60cm x 84cm (A1)
My most popular format, place on an easel at the venue for your guests to see throughout the day.
Small – 10cm x 15cm, perfectly pocket sized
Tall – 10cm x 21cm, room for a longer timeline or more details
Allow at least one per couple or household of these sizes, you can place on each (or every other) seat for the ceremony
If you’d like a different size or shape just let me know and I’ll see what I can do!
What goes in an order of the day
Keep it simple, and pick between 6 and 12 key parts of your day. Here are some examples:
1:30pm The Ceremony
2:30pm Drinks, Canapes & Photographs
4:30pm Speeches & Toasts
5:00pm Wedding Breakfast
6:30pm Cutting the Cake
7:30pm The First Dance
8:45pm Evening Buffet
12:30am Time to Say Goodnight

Should you include them in your invitations?
Some couples include a very simple order of the day with their invitations. It’s not essential to do this though, and keep in mind that when you send out your invitations you may not have finalised the details for the day.
If you do choose to include them, pocketfold or concertina style invitations are the best style to accommodate this extra card.
Small order of the day cards can be printed on plantable seed paper too – click here for more info
Confetti bags with an order of the day
Check out my printed wedding confetti bags for a clever way to include your order of the day.
I can either supply these empty for you to fill, or I can source a variety of different biodegradable confetti options.
Eco friendly wedding order of the day signs
All my order of the day signs are printed on recycled and/or recyclable board and paper. Fully personalised printing is included.
I try to keep waste to an absolute minimum, so aim to make all my wedding stationery easily recyclable at the end of it’s life.
Order of ceremony
An order of ceremony is more like the order of service that you would have for a church wedding, but designed for a non religious ceremony.
It contains details of the ceremony itself i.e. music, readings, bridal party etc.
You could have the same A5 or pocket sized booklet format as my order of service or a more simple folded or flat card sized to fit the information.
What to include in an ‘order of ceremony’:
- Bride or Groom’s entrance music
- Any readings or poems during the ceremony
- Any music to be played during the signing of the register
- Music for the exit of the newlyweds
- Details of the bridal party
- Any special messages of thanks etc
You can also include things like details of the venue – particularly if it has historical significance, or the surrounding area if your guests are staying for days or nights after the wedding.
