I do love an autumnal themed wedding, and if it involves eco friendly invites and stationery, all the better! Becca contacted me in March, around seven months ahead of her October wedding, the perfect timescale to start thinking about wedding invites. She had seen my website and was keen to design and order some autumnal seed paper wedding invitations and stationery for her and Robert’s big day. Living and marrying in Scotland, Becca wasn’t able to visit my Cardiff studio, so we set up a call and went from there. Here’s the eco friendly wedding invites and stationery suite that we designed, with a gorgeous bespoke autumnal theme throughout, featuring burnt oranges, reds and muted greens.
Autumnal seed paper wedding invitations
Simple, flat wedding invitation cards were what Becca was after. All the information would be on the front, with an email address and phone number for replies. No additional information cards would be needed for accommodation, menu choices, or gift poems. Becca was very keen that the cards should be as eco friendly as possible so chose to have them produced on plantable seed paper, with the planting instructions on the back.

Matching autumnal seeded evening wedding invitations
I designed matching for the evening wedding reception invitations, that looked very similar to the day invites. Just a few tweaks to the wording, but essentially the same format. All the details on the front with an email and phone for replies, and planting instructions for the seeded paper on the back.

Time saving tip:
To give a professional finish, and to save her a little time, Becca chose to have the guest names printed on both the day and evening invitations. And of course, all the invites were supplied with recycled kraft brown envelopes ready for posting out.
Autumnal plantable wedding place cards
Becca wanted to keep the same theme for her stationery throughout the day. So we designed plantable wedding place cards for her reception tables. I used the same beautiful autumnal floral design, with guest names on the front, and of course those all important instructions for planting them on the back.

Pro tip:
Having your place cards or individual menus printed onto seeded paper means that they can double up as a little favour for your guests too. They can take them home, plant them, and be reminded of your big day as they watch the wildflowers bloom. It’s the perfect eco (and budget!) friendly alternative to traditional wedding favours.
Eco friendly wedding table name cards
Determined to keep waste to a minimum, Becca chose to also have her table names printed onto the eco friendly seed paper. I made them tent style, printed on both sides with that same autumnal design. This way they could either stand alone straight on to the table, or fold flat to fit into holders. Becca & Robert named their reception tables after locations with special meaning to them. I love it when a couple does something like this, it really adds that personal touch to the big day.

Autumnal wedding table plan board
If you are after a large, A1 size seating plan for your wedding then it’s not possible for me to print this onto plantable seed paper. My eco display board is the next best thing in terms of sustainable credentials. It’s made from FSC®‑certified paper (FSC® C127595) and are 100% recyclable, unlike foam core and similar plastic based boards. For Becca and Robert, I used that same red, orange and green autumn design top and bottom, with the top table, and ten guest tables in between.

Matching, autumnal wedding thank you cards
And finally, to wrap up their autumnal seed paper wedding invitations and stationery suite, Becca and Robert chose simple, flat thank you cards. With the autumn floral design and ‘thank you’ on the front, and planting instructions on the back with space for them to write a short personal message to each of their guests. Again, these cards came with recycled brown kraft envelopes ready for posting out.

Autumnal seed paper wedding invitations and stationery
So that was the autumnal seed paper wedding invites and stationery suite that I designed for Becca and Rob’s Scotland wedding in October 2022. We used plantable seeded paper throughout all of their wedding stationery, from invitations to place cards, table names, and thank you cards. Only the table plan used ‘regular’ card, but the most eco friendly option that we could find. Everything coordinated beautifully, with that stunning, autumnal floral design featuring on each and every piece.
