Seed paper place cards and table names for Laura & Ben

Seed paper place cards are a wonderful, eco friendly option for your wedding reception stationery. Plantable seed paper can be used to make many of your wedding stationery items such as order of service, place cards, menus, and table numbers. I created this simple plantable seed paper wedding reception stationery set with a classic greenery, eucalyptus design for Laura & Ben in 2021. Their December wedding was at Canada Lake and Lodge, one of my favourite, local, Cardiff venues.

Laura contacted me around 7 weeks before the wedding. She was looking for a table numbers, place cards, and a matching table plan. Something very rustic, subtle, and not too flashy. After a zoom call and a few emails back and forth, we settled on the timeless greenery design. The place cards and table numbers would be printed onto plantable seed paper. The table plan cards would be printed onto natural, recycled card to be mounted onto a mirror that Laura and Ben were hiring as part of their venue decor service.

Why choose seed paper place cards and table names?

Choosing plantable seed paper for the table numbers and place cards meant that guests could take them home after and have a lasting reminder of Laura and Ben’s big day. It also meant little or no waste for items that are typically left on the tables after wedding breakfast. Plantable place cards can also double up as wedding favours for your guests, if you like!

Plantable seed paper is made from recycled waste materials, embedded with wildflower seeds. When planted, the paper degrades back into the earth and the seeds sprout into beautiful bee and butterfly friendly wildflowers.

Wedding reception tables named after special locations

Laura and Ben had 10 tables for their wedding breakfast, each named after a location special to them. My favourite? Barrybados! For those not in the know, this is a local nickname for Barry Island, made famous of course by the legendary Gavin & Stacey.

I created the table names as tent style cards, printed on both sides with the greenery design, the table name and the bride & groom’s names and the wedding date. I like tent style cards for table names and numbers. They can either be used freestanding on the table itself, or folded flat to fit into clip-style holders or even frames.

Plantable seed paper wedding place cards

To match the table names, I created wedding place cards for Laura and Ben with the same greenery design. Printed onto plantable seed paper, these also had instructions on the back for guests so that they knew to take them home and plant them. The guests names were also printed.

Eco friendly table plan, printed onto sustainable recyclable display board

A matching eco-friendly table plan

Laura & Ben had a mirror as part of their venue decoration service, which they wanted to use to display their table plan. So, for this I printed individual cards ready for them to fix on to the mirror. The table plan cards were printed onto 100% natural recycled card, these didn’t need to be plantable but we still wanted to keep them as sustainable as possible.

Pro tip: If you want to use a mirror for your wedding table plan, attaching printed cards that can be removed and recycled after is far more eco friendly than vinyl (plastic) decal stickers. Hiring a mirror rather than buying  a new one is more sustainable too. If you prefer a more traditional table plan board, mine are printed onto fully recyclable, eco-friendly display boards. No foam core or plastic!

So that’s how I created a suite of plantable seed paper wedding reception stationery, and matching, eco friendly table plan cards for Laura & Ben’s winter wedding. Here’s what Laura said when she messaged me a month or so after the big day

Just wanted to message to say a huge thank you for providing our wedding stationery. It was beautiful. I have a friend who has just got engaged and I have highly recommended you xx
