How to order wedding invitations & stationery

Congratulations, you’ve booked the date and perfect venue. You’re ready to order wedding invitations and stationery!

I’m guessing that you’ve already had a good look around my design collections to get an idea of my style.

You’ve hopefully had a read about me and my commitment to the environment too. And now you’re here, ready to order wedding invitations and stationery!

So here’s what you need to do, step by step, with lots of useful links to how to work out what stationery you need, when you need it, and what info you need to get booked in with me.

1. GET IN TOUCH

If you’re local to me in Cardiff, it would be great to meet you in my studio. If you’re further afield or just want a quick chat to start with, we can talk over the phone or via video. Prefer to put your request in writing? No problem, drop me an email. You can book an appointment to visit my studio, schedule a phone or video chat, or email me all from my contact page.

2. IDEAS AND INSPO

I want to know all about your wedding. When and where is it, what’s your colour scheme or theme, how many guests are you having, and what ideas do you have for your invites and stationery? Bring your inspiration, your Pinterest boards, and your swatches. I have loads of checklists and guides (as well as years of experience) to help you figure out what you do and don’t need, how many of each, and when.

3. GET A QUOTE

Once I know what design you want, which items you need, and the approximate quantities of each, I’ll send you a fully personalised, itemised quote. This will include a timeline for producing each part of your stationery, and deadlines for confirming all the details. Some couples choose to order a sample from me at this point. I make samples to order, and a small charge will apply if you’d like one.

4. PAY YOUR DEPOSIT

If you’re happy with your quote, pay your deposits and get booked in. For anything less than £50 I’ll need payment in full with your order. For anything more than £50 or to reserve a production slot for later, pay a £50 deposit. The balance will be payable when you confirm the final numbers & approve your proofs. It’s OK, you don’t need all the details for your stationery finalised before you book in.

TIME SAVING TIP

If you visit my studio to order your wedding invitations, we can often cover steps 2 to 4 (above) when we meet.

As we talk through your stationery requirements and look at samples together, I will usually be able to give you prices.

If you are happy with these, you can pay your deposits, by card, there and then. If you are super organised, and you want to, we can also make a start on getting your printing details sorted (step 5 below).

Yay, you’re booked in – here’s what happens next

5. CONFIRM DETAILS

Once you’re booked in I’ll ask you for printing details for each part of your stationery at the right time. I’ll give you all the support and advice you need to make sure that every piece of stationery includes the right details. I have lots of guides and templates available for you in an exclusive client-only part of my website. I’ll send you a link to this with your order confirmation.

6. CHECK & APPROVE PROOFS

I supply all my proofs by email. If you would like hard copy (printed) proofs then a small charge will apply. It’s very important that you check your proofs carefully. It is your responsibility to make sure everything is correct before printing. We’ll revise your proofs over email until you’re 100% happy and give me approval to print.

7. PAY YOUR BALANCE

When you have approved your proofs I will ask you to confirm the final numbers to print for each item of your stationery. This could be slightly different to the numbers on your quote. I’ll send the invoice for your balance due. I will not begin printing your stationery until your balance is paid.

8. COLLECT YOUR STATIONERY

When each part of your stationery is finished I will be in touch to arrange a time for you to collect it from my Cardiff studio. If you’re not able to collect I can arrange delivery within the UK for you. There will be a charge for this and I will agree this with you before posting anything out.

When to order wedding invitations & stationery

A bit at a time as you go along?

You’ll need up to three batches of stationery for your wedding (save the date, invitations, ceremony and reception stationery) and you won’t need them all at the same time.

You could order each of these batches as you go along, at the right times during your wedding planning journey.

Or get it all booked in together?

Or you can pay deposits and reserve production slots for each batch of stationery in one go, when you confirm your order (step 4 above).

I will then send you handy reminders to confirm your numbers and printing details (step 5) at just the right time so that each batch of your stationery is produced exactly when you need it.
