Save the date cards are a great way to let your guests know they need to “save the date” before you confirm the details with a beautiful handmade wedding invitation.

Send save the date cards up to two years in advance

Sending them twelve to eighteen months in advance of the wedding is ideal, but up to two years before big day is perfectly acceptable. As soon as you have booked the date and secured the venue you’re good to go!

It can be a nice touch to send them out exactly a year (or two!) to the day before your wedding. Also consider saving on postage by popping them in envelopes with your Christmas cards, if the timing suits.

Useful for weddings at busy times

Save the dates are especially useful if you are getting married in the height of the summer wedding season. Also for bank holiday weddings or at other busy times like Christmas or Easter.

Save the date cards are not essential, but can help your guests if they need to secure time off work, book accommodation or arrange transport etc. If you are planning a destination wedding they are definitely something to consider.

Calendars, tags, hearts or magnets

A simple, small flat card or one of our little hanging hearts or luggage labels are ideal. Calendar style save the date cards are also popular. Magnets can be added to lots of our designs so your guests can stick them on their fridge.

One save the date card per household

You will need one save the date card per household, and if you’re not sure whether someone will make it to the final guest list it’s probably best not to send them one!

All our save the date cards are supplied with coordinating envelopes.
