Olive wedding invitations and stationery for Sarah & Phil

Sarah and Phil got in touch with me in August, when they were busy preparing for their April wedding at The Compasses at Pattiswick in Braintree. Sarah described their wedding theme as rustic, with bridesmaids in sage green, and her bouquet including pale blush pink and white flowers with eucalyptus. She and Phil liked flat wedding invitations, simple and minimal with a little greenery. After a couple of emails, and a zoom call, I put together some designs for their olive wedding invitations and stationery.

Flat, simple olive wedding invitations

Sarah was very clear on the style of wedding invitations she was after. She definitely wanted simple flat style with a small amount of information. No RSVP card was needed as they would ask for replies via phone. She knew she wanted to include a sentence explaining that only the bridal party children would be at the wedding. They also wanted to include a sentence to say they’d love money towards a honeymoon as a gift but they were unsure how to word this.

They had looked at, and liked, some of my house collections, but none were quite right for them, so I put together a semi-bespoke design for them using some olive branch artwork that I already had.

Here are the wedding invitations I designed, with a simple, elegant olive branch greenery design. The flat invitations were double sided, including the additional information on the reverse. Evening invitations followed the same design, with appropriate changes to the details and wording. While Sarah and Phil had a good idea of the wording and content for their invitations, I was able to give them suggestions and advice on certain parts, namely the ‘no children other than the bridal party’ sentence and how to (politely) ask for money towards your honey moon instead of gifts.

if you can’t see exactly what you’re looking for in my house collections, do get in touch and let me know what you’re after. I have lots of other artwork and designs available that just haven’t made it to a full collection yet

Wedding day stationery with an olive design

Closer to the wedding, I followed up with Sarah and Phil to see if I could help with any wedding day stationery to coordinate with their wedding invitations. Here’s what I designed for them.

Table plan cards:

Their table plan would be made using individual photo frames for each table. I supplied flat cards (7” x 5”) printed with the guest names and finished with the same elegant olive branch design.

Table number cards:

For each table, I made tent style number cards, again with the olive branch design. I make my table number and name cards tent style so that they can either stand on their own on the table or be folded flat to pop into clip type holders. I love how they looked with Sarah and Phil’s rustic style centrepieces.

Finally, for each guest to find their seat, I designed super simple place cards with just the guests’ first name and the olive branch design.

Semi bespoke wedding stationery for Sarah and Phil

So that’s how I worked with Sarah and Phil to design their simple, minimalist olive wedding invitations and matching wedding day stationery. Once we had the design for the invitations, we carried this through to the table plan, table numbers and place cards to create a coordinated, pulled-together look. Sarah and Phil do not live close enough to my studio to visit in person, so we met over video call and exchanged numerous emails to get the design just right. I arranged for their finished invitations and stationery to be delivered to them.

The image above is a great reminder for why you need to include a couple of spare wedding invitations in your order. They make for a stunning ‘details’ shot for your wedding album. Captured beautifully here by Sarah & Phil’s photographers
