Wow, what a week it has been! I received an email on Tuesday telling me that By Jo had won the title of Best Wedding Stationery Wales (east region), at the Welsh National Wedding awards 2022. To say I am thrilled is an understatement. The competition for these awards is high, with a huge amount of super talented wedding suppliers here in Wales.
I promise I won’t bore you with a long, oscar worthy acceptance speech, but I do want to say a few words about how much this means to me. Firstly, and most importantly, I am immensely grateful to all my couples and clients who voted for me. It really does mean the world.
Why does this Best Wedding Stationery Wales award mean so much to me?
Well, the last few years (particularly for those of us in the wedding industry) have been something of a rollercoaster. When covid struck and suddenly pulled the rug from beneath our feet in 2020, we have next to no work and very little income for 12-18 months. It was touch and go whether the business would actually survive. To cheer myself up, I launched a complete rebrand, and a significant change in my business goals and values in early 2021. Follow this with our busiest year EVER in 2022, you’ll see it’s been something of a journey. To receive this award now is simply amazing, and I just want to say a heartfelt thank you for sticking with me through the good times and the bad (cue a Fatboy Slim singalong!).
Sadly, I couldn’t make it to the actual awards ceremony (family commitments always come first), so I wasn’t able to collect the trophy in person. From the pictures I’ve seen on social media though, it looked like a good time was had by all, and it was an amazing night. It’s all good though, as the lovely people at the Welsh National Wedding Awards are packing up my award and it is winging its way to me as I speak though, so expect the photo spam on my Insta very soon. I make no apology!
How I’m celebrating . . .
So to celebrate in my own little way, I have been planting trees. I’ll explain;
I pay a monthly subscription to Ecologi that helps to offset my carbon footprint (it’s part of my commitment to making my business as sustainable as possible). They plant trees and invest in projects on my behalf. As I wasn’t able to attend the Welsh National Wedding Awards ceremony, I have donated the money I would have spent on my ticket to plant some extra trees in my forest. These are special ones, 16 of them, right here in the UK. I put a little note on them to remember why I bought them.
So there you go, just a little insight into why it’s been such a fabulous week here at By Jo. Winner of the Welsh National Wedding Awards Best Wedding Stationery Wales (east region) award, 2022. Yes, I’m going to keep saying it as much as I can! I’m going to finish up by saying, thank you, thanks, diolch again to you all. Here’s to another successful year in 2023!
