Emily and Ben contacted me in May 2021. They were planning their intimate Cardiff wedding just as Wales (along with the rest of the UK) were emerging from pandemic induced lockdowns and restrictions. Their vision was for an elegant, sophisticated wedding in Penarth and they were on the hunt for beautiful, bespoke Cardiff wedding invites and stationery handmade to complement their ideas.
Bespoke, handmade Cardiff wedding invites and stationery
They decided to choose bespoke, handmade invites and stationery not only for the quality and exclusivity but also for the ability to have just a small number of invites (and matching stationery). With their wedding ceremony and reception involving only their very nearest and dearest, Emily and Ben were looking for just 20 invitations and a small amount of coordinating stationery for their big day.
Emily & Ben’s elegant wedding invites
Emily and Ben had a very simple brief for their invitations. They wanted them to be beautiful, elegant, and timeless. With a neutral colour palette of white and cream to suit their minimalist but luxe wedding theme. The invitations needed to include the ceremony and reception details as well as a menu and reply card with boxes for guests to tick their choices. After an initial design meeting at my Cardiff studio, and a few emails back and forth, we finalised a design for a simple pearlescent white pocketfold invitation with a cream bellyband and inserts. Emily & Ben’s initials in a classic script font became the main design element, along with traditional wedding invitation wording in crisp black print. Luxury cream envelopes with pearlescent white liners completed the look.
Matching order of service for Emily and Ben’s church wedding
Continuing with the theme of their wedding invitations, Emly and Ben wanted a classic and elegant order of service for their intimate church wedding ceremony at All Saints Church in Penarth. I designed an A5 size booklet featuring the design with their initials that we had used on the invitations. I used silky smooth white pearlescent card for the cover, crisp white paper pages, and an elegant white satin ribbon finished the look.
Personalised confetti bags with dried flower petals
That personalised monogram was also used on delicate, glassine bags to go along with the order of service. I printed the front of these with their names and wedding date as well as a graphic timeline outlining the order of the day. Each bag was filled with natural, dried flower petal confetti. The beauty of these little packets of confetti is that they are entirely biodegradable, both the bag and the petals inside.
Personalised menu tags for Emily & Ben’s wedding reception in Penarth
With just 15 of their closest family and friends, Emily and Ben held their intimate, sophisticated wedding reception dinner at Holm House in Penarth. As their guests had already chosen their menu ahead of the wedding, they wanted to give them a reminder on the big day. I designed beautiful luggage tag style, personalised menu bookmarks. Of course, they featured the elegant script initials that we had used on all of the invitations and stationery so far. The tags included each guest’s name along with their own personal menu choice, printed onto pearlescent white card and finished with a sleek white satin ribbon. Adding the reception venue and wedding date at the bottom completed the design and made each into a beautiful keepsake for their guests.
Elegant Cardiff wedding invites and stationery
It was an absolute pleasure to work with Emily and Ben to create such a gorgeous suite of invitations and stationery for their intimate Cardiff wedding. Details were key as was getting everything just perfect. I was delighted when Emily messaged me a couple of days after their wedding with these words.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you for our beautiful stationery. Everyone loved it and it was a very important part of the most special day. I will make sure to send some photos as they come through but really want to thank you for all your patience and kindness it was absolutely beautiful and exceeded our expectations. We had so many people asking us who made everything and we were so excited to share your name with everyone. Thank you so much for being a part of our special day xxx
