How to order wedding invitations during COVID

How to order your wedding invitations during COVID, it’s a nightmare isn’t it? Lockdowns and restrictions might be preventing you from visiting suppliers, there’s uncertainty over numbers and whether your guests will be able to travel and more. Knowing what to do for the best with your invitations and stationery is a problem, to say the least.

You still want to have beautiful, bespoke, handmade wedding invitations and stationery and you want to deal with a lovely, real human being (not just order online and hope for the best). Well the good news is, I can do all of this with you even if you can’t make it to my studio to share a cuppa right now.

To help you with planning and how to order your wedding invitations during the COVID pandemic I’ve crafted not one but two brand new services.

Introducing my new ‘Design & Hold’ service to help you order your wedding invitations during COVID

Here’s the thing. You’re planning your wedding for less than a year away. You want to get started on your bespoke invitations, but you’re (understandably) a little nervous about whether the restrictions on numbers will allow you to have the celebration you dream of by then. You don’t want to get invitations made that may become useless if you have to change the date but you really, really want to let your guests know that you are still planning and that you’d love them to be there. So how do you order wedding invitations during a pandemic? My design and hold service could be the answer.

Handmade wedding invitations and stationery design

For a small deposit (talk to me, we’ll work out whatever is suitable), I will design and supply digital proofs of your bespoke wedding invitations, getting them to a point where they are ready to print and make as soon as you give me the go ahead. I will then put them in my production schedule for a mutually agreed date (say 12 weeks before your wedding).

In the meantime, I’ll supply you with a digital ‘save the date’ image to share with your friends and family. To help you let them know to keep the day free and that their beautiful handmade wedding invitation will follow when things are a little more certain.

Once you are confident (as you can be) that your big day will go ahead, you can confirm the quantity you need. I will then invoice the balance for that number and get them made as quickly as possible for you, usually within a week or two. If we need to make any adjustments to the wording or content we’ll do it before I print anything.

So, you get to do the fun bit of designing your invitations, deciding how to word them and what you need to include way ahead of time. Then we’ll ‘put them on the back burner’ until you’re clearer on numbers. There’s no stress and no waste – winning all round.

For a truly contactless way to order your wedding invitations during COVID, how about my stamp and send service?

I also offer a ‘stamp and send’ service, effectively an entirely contactless way to order your wedding invitations. Here’s how it works:

  • Meet with me over Zoom or phone, design your bespoke wedding invites and place your order (take advantage of my design and hold service outline above if you like).
  • Make your payment by credit/debit card or online bank transfer.
  • I’ll send your proofs and you can approve them by email.
  • Send your guest list to me by email complete with postal addresses (I’ll even send you a template to fill in).
  • I will print and make your bespoke wedding invitations, print the guest names into them, print the envelopes, seal them up, stamp them (you choose, first or second class) and take them to the post office on your behalf.
  • I’ll get proof of posting for them all as well, just for your own peace of mind.
  • If you want any spare ones or keepsakes posted to you I can do that too.

This service is the perfect answer to ‘How to order your wedding invitations during the COVID pandemic’. Being completely contactless, it allows you to keep planning even if you’re isolating, in lockdown or have local travel restrictions in place.

I love to meet with couples in my studio, but I’m very experienced in working remotely

While I do love to meet my couples face to face, working remotely isn’t new for me. Often, my clients are too far away to visit. Here’s a lovely review I received from Ceri last year. We didn’t meet face to face until she came to pick up her reception stationery.

My partner and I cannot thank Jo enough for our wedding invites they produced. Throughout the whole process, Jo was amazing! I had an idea and sent Jo images. She was quick to respond and sent me images of a design. When coming up with wording for the invites, she was patient and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The invites were far better than I could ever have envisioned. They were perfect and exceeded expectations. I have had a huge amount of feedback from the wedding guests. Everyone has commented on how beautiful they are. One guest stated that their daughter opened the invite and thought that it was mesmerising with how pretty the invite looked. I can not recommend Byjo enough. Thank you! Jo
