guide to wedding stationery

This guide is intended to help you decide what stationery items, and how many of each you need. It also gives some suggestions for wording and the kind of information you may like to include. Wordings are a suggestion only and you are very welcome to provide us with your own text if you wish. We can print your own text onto the outside of cards and pockets too if you want us to. For example, instead of 'Wedding Invitation' you may prefer to have your names and wedding date, or something else such as 'Winter Wedding'.

Before the day stationery

Save the date

These can be sent out as soon as you have booked the big day, a year or more in advance, and are especially useful if you are getting married in the height of the holiday season. A simple flat card or one of our bookmarks or luggage labels is ideal. You will need one per household/family.

Guest information cards

Furnish your guests with all the information they need to plan for the big day, for example:

· Full address (and postcode for sat nav!), telephone numbers, website and email contact for your venue(s)
· Directions of how to get there - and from church to reception venue if applicable
· Details of any transport you are providing for your guests e.g. from church to reception
· Any special accommodation rates available at your reception venue, and details on how to book
· Alternative accommodation in the vicinity of your venue (include options for all budgets)
· If you are marrying abroad you can include details of any group travel arrangements you have made
· Gift list details (or alternative poem)
· Dress code
· Whether children are invited or not
· Arrangements for drinks e.g. 'cash bar'

Pocketfold invitations include 2 information cards and an rsvp post card as standard. Cheque book invitations include a guest information page and an rsvp slip. Mini guest information and rsvp cards can be added as extras to classic folded or flat invitations. You will need one of each per invitation.

On the day stationery

Order of service

For a church wedding this contains the details of your wedding ceremony, including music, readings & hymns. Our booklets allow for up to 8 pages of text. We recommend one per household/family, although many prefer to order one per guest.

Entrance music
Hymns (include all words in full)
Readings (what and who they will be read by)
Prayers
Recessional music
Details of Bridal Party & any special thank you’s

These are suggestions only, check with your church as they may have a standard template for you to follow.

Order of the day/Order of ceremony

This can contain music and readings for a civil ceremony as well as a running order of the day. A classic folded card is ideal, or a flat card for a simple running order. Again we recommend one per household/family, although many prefer to order one per guest.

3.00pm The Wedding Ceremony in the Drawing Room
3.30pm Photographs in the castle grounds, champagne served in the courtyard
5.30pm Speeches and toasts in the Orangery, followed by the Wedding Banquet
7.30pm Drinks and dancing to ‘Midnight Jazz’
10.00pm Evening snacks in the Lounge

Place cards or tags

Placed on the tables for the wedding breakfast so guests will find their seat. You will need one per guest and even if you ask us to print names it’s a good idea to order a few spares in case of last minute changes.

Table plan

Displayed in a prominent position usually at the door to the reception room, to help guests find which table they are seated at. Our standard table plans (either framed or not) can include up to 12 tables plus the top table. Please contact us to discuss the options for accommodating more tables.

Table name/number cards

Double sided cards that identify the tables in the reception room and help your guests to find their seat. Order one per table including the top table.

Menus

Place two or three menus on each reception table, classic folded cards are best for this. Or give each guest an individual menu at their place setting, small postcard style cards or luggage labels are ideal. Individual menus can be printed with guests names and so will double up as place cards.

Favours

Favour boxes or lottery ticket holders, little thank you gifts for your guests. Some of our favour boxes and lottery ticket holders can have your guests names printed on so they double up as place cards. Order one per guest at the wedding reception – don’t forget the wedding party.

Wedding post box & guest book

A wedding post box is invaluable to keep all your cards safe and secure at your reception, especially if they contain money or vouchers. Ours are personalised and made to match your stationery design and colour scheme. They double up as a great keepsake box after to big day!

Encourage your guests to leave you a goodwill message in a beautiful guest book – great to look back on after your big day. Ours are personalised and made to match your stationery design and colour scheme. They have 40 blank pages and are supplied with a matching presentation box.

After the occasion

Thank you cards

Small folded or flat cards are perfect for thank you cards, either printed or left blank for a more personal handwritten message. Send one to each guest thanking them for coming to your wedding and for any gifts received. Remember some extras for people who helped out with or who were involved with your wedding day, and for those who couldn’t attend but sent a gift.

Joanne & Richard
would like to thank you for your lovely gift
and all your kind wishes on our wedding day.
